Our Team

The Upstream Alliance team consists of a unique combination of internationally experienced oil & gas industry entrepreneurs, executives, and technocrats. Our combined skills give us a comprehensive understanding of the hydrocarbon value chain. The unique combination of the Upstream Alliance team adds value by introducing diverse approaches and global perspectives in order to make sound investment decisions and to actively guide our portfolio of companies and clients to become best in class organizations.

Upstream Alliance has a team of 25 associates & partners who are highly experienced in various facets of the upstream sectors of the oil & gas business. As we have created strategic partnerships with both Indian & international companies, the administration team is expanding with staff comprising of professionals with geological, engineering, drilling operations, well design, reservoir analysis, economic, accounting, and computing skills.

The strategic core group of Upstream Alliance is comprised of the following:

Vikram Walia
Mr Walia was educated at Millfield (UK) and did his graduation from Harvard College, US. He has over 15 years of oil & gas industry experience and has worked with Veba & Total. After this global exposure he came back to India and founded Ultrapetrol as a brokerage & supply business. Mr Walia is the co founder of Upstream Alliance, the CEO of Punj Lloyd Upstream Ltd, and board member of Asian Oilfield Services Ltd.

Gaurav Sippy
Mr. Sippy obtained his degree in Banking & Finance from the Kalaidos University of Applies Sciences Zurich, Switzerland, followed by a specialization in International relations from Webster University, Geneve, Switzerland. Mr Sippy started his career as Junior Relationship Manager at Banca Gesfid, Lugano, Switzerland , followed by exposure at Clariden Leu as Junior Vice President for Middle East. Mr. Sippy has experience in the Banking sector & structuring Financial products. Currently, Mr Sippy is the Managing Director Of Inglobia Ltd. & Epanomi Energy Ltd. a commodities trading company based out of Cyprus & Zug Switzerland. He is responsible for The Caspian & Middle Eastern Market for the company and also co promoter of their Global Business unit.

Dr Mike Flannery
Dr Flannery is an internationally renowned petroleum engineer with 30 years experience in the design & construction of cutting edge oilfield engineering. Dr Flannery started his career with National Oilwell and Dreco; he now has equity interests in several oil & gas industry related companies including IDM, Zorin Energy and ICERP. Dr Flannery is on the board of several international companies and has taken 3 companies to the capital markets and helped them grow internationally. Dr Flannery has several oil industry awards and has several patents and publications to his credit.

Yury Filanovsky
Mr Filanovsky received his degree in petroleum engineering at the Moscow Gubkin Institute of Petrochemical & Gas Industry, followed by specialization in International Economic relations from the All Union Academy of Foreign Trade. Mr Filavosky started his career as an engineer in Russian state owned oil company Zarubezhneft, followed by exposures in Europe and the Middle East; presently Mr Filanovsky is the International Advisor to the Director General RITEK. Mr Filanovsky has over 30 years of international business experience in the oil & gas industry, with a comprehensive global understanding of reservoir and sub-structure analysis, finance, planning, legal & contracts, supply & technology, and import-export intricacies. Mr Filanovsky is responsible for the Russian interface of the company.
